Ae Mere Pyare Vatan...15th August at SPJCM Dubai

Bharat Mata ki....Jai

Bharat Mata ki....Jai

Vande Matram...

Vande Matram...

As if a mantra, said with passion and spirit of our free motherland, reverberated our leadership hall and set the stage of the 1 hour Celebration Ceremony of our 60th Independence Day....

Well the managers of tomorrow, dressed in kurtas, sherwanis, dhotis and juttis, and our ravishing beauties drapped in colourful suits and saris started the day with fresh effervescence...

Celebrating this special day on a foreign land with this fervous and enthusiasm recreated the nostalgia of being in our own homeland....

The complete event was scheduled for 1hour and was presided by our dean Mr. Dalvi and attended by all the faculty and the students....

The celebration proceedings started with a video, capturing those moments and those people who have sculpted the face our our free motherland, with the touchy song "Ae Mere Vatan Ke Logon...." by Lata Mangeshkar. It left us in reverence for those who have traveresed that difficult path for each and everyone of us.....

This was followed by our national anthem!

Once the crowd settled after the national anthem, we were all set to witness some breathtaking song and dance performances by both the Dec06 & Jun07 batch, and yes there were some surprises too....It all started with the patriotic song from the movie 'Karma' sung by Faisal and team.....

The next performance left everyone awestruck....Now, this guy is blessed with plethora of talents and he never fails to surprize us. Yes he is Sujith from the IT Infrastructure team of the college, whose sketches have found place in many blogs and he exhibited his singing ability with a breathtaking performance on a Malyalam song.....One more thing, I must appreciate his guts, as just before the event he came up to me and requested me for a slot of one song. Now this takes real guts guys....

After this, came another song prepared Surabhi and team.....
Once the singing spree was over, then came the finale medley; which was a combination of three songs with patriotic dance performances. The first song was beautifully choreographed with tricolor 'chunnis' (depicting our national flag) used to convey our diversity yet extreme harmony. The second song was the AR Rehman's Vande Matram. The dancers put together an impactful couple performance paying their homage to our motherland and conveying their eternal love and integrity towards it. Well then came the energetic bhangra performace on the song 'Rang de basanti...'. Well this performance is very dear to my heart, as due to the loud cheers and shouts, we missed the starting of the song and ended up in absolute chaos....all of us were completely disappointed with such an ending....To our utter delight, the crowd asked us to redo our performance......And what a comeback was that!! I call it almost perfect!

These events were then followed by the Award Ceremony of the Best Dress Male and Female and the Independence Day quiz that was conducted two days back.
We also called our favourite sir Mr. Koh Seng Choon to say a few words and he in his typical Singaporean accent said "Svatantrata Divas Mubarak".
The event finished with sweets for all.....
Even though the event was just for an hour, it was full of colour, energy and reverence......
